Starting off with some general principles of good data visualization, we will talk about what makes a good graphic and how to best convey your message to your audience. We will work through some philosophies of data visualization without coding to focus on some skills and theories to apply as we begin to build more in depth visualizations later on. We will discuss how eye movements, colour palettes, and storytelling can affect how your message is received by your audience and how you can employ these factors to guide your audience through your visualization. We will also touch on the Grammar of Graphics, and our upcoming seminars to further expand these skills.
